As a hiring manager with over 25 years of experience working closely with recruiters, I found Jo Bruner’s book, Goat to Savior and Back: Still a Recruiter, to be a refreshing and insightful read. The book captures the essence of the kind of recruiter I’ve always hoped to work with—talented, invested, and driven.
Ms. Bruner does an excellent job outlining the key aspects of the recruiting profession, weaving in vivid commentary that highlights both the emotional and functional dimensions of the role. Each chapter includes a thoughtful section inviting recruiters to reflect and connect with their own aspirations, making the book not just informative but personally engaging.
It’s a well-crafted and meaningful book. My only wish is that it were broader in scope—because with its depth and authenticity, it has the potential to make a significant impact in the recruitment world.
